EV charger installation
A proper home charger turns an electric car from a planning exercise into something you plug in overnight and forget. We check your switchboard and supply can take it, run the circuit to the garage or carport, and install the charger to the manufacturer’s specification, single or three-phase, with load management where the supply is tight.

Before you book
Check the supply first
Many older homes in the east have a single-phase supply and a full switchboard. A charger still fits, but it may need load management or a board upgrade. We tell you which before you buy, so there are no surprises on install day.
The charger you can charge from
A 7 kW single-phase charger adds around 40 km of range an hour, which fills most cars overnight. Three-phase is faster but only matters if you have three-phase supply and a car that can use it.
Installed to the spec
Chargers are only covered by their warranty when installed to the manufacturer’s instructions and the wiring rules. We follow both, commission the charger with you, and note the settings on your COES paperwork.

EV charger installation: common questions
Which charger should I buy?
The one that suits your car, your supply and your solar, not the one on special. We install to the manufacturer’s specification whichever brand you choose, and we are happy to look at a shortlist and tell you what will and will not work at your place.
Can I charge from a normal power point instead?
You can, slowly, at about 10 km of range an hour, and only from a power point on its own circuit that is in good condition. It is fine for a plug-in hybrid. For a full EV a dedicated charger is safer, far faster and not much dearer once the circuit is run.
Will it trip the house when the oven is on?
Not with load management, which watches what the house is drawing and eases the charger back when the oven, air conditioner and cooktop are all on. Where the supply is generous it is not needed; we work out which from your board.
Do I need three-phase power?
Not for most people. Single-phase charging fills a typical car overnight. Three-phase is worth it if you already have it, do very high daily kilometres, or plan two EVs. Getting three-phase brought in is a distributor job with its own cost.
