Good lighting changes how a room feels and what it costs to run. We swap old halogen downlights for LEDs that use a fraction of the power, add outdoor and sensor lighting so you are not fumbling for keys in the dark, and install the pendants, dimmers and feature lights that make a renovation look finished.

Before you book
Halogens cost you twice
A 50 W halogen downlight puts most of its energy out as heat. A 7 W LED gives the same light, runs cool, and lasts 15 to 20 years instead of two. A house with 30 downlights pays back the swap in about a year.
Not every LED dims
Flicker and buzz almost always come from an LED on a dimmer that was made for halogens. We match fittings and dimmers that are rated to work together, so they dim smoothly all the way down.
Sensor lights and security
A sensor light on the driveway and one at the back door are the cheapest security upgrade there is. Set to come on at dusk and brighten on movement, they run for cents a week.

Questions
Lighting and downlights: common questions
Can you replace downlights in a ceiling with insulation?
Yes. Modern LED downlights are rated for contact with insulation (IC-rated), which old halogens never were. We check the ceiling and use fittings that are safe to be covered, so the insulation can go back over them.
How many downlights does a room need?
Fewer than most people think, with good fittings. A typical bedroom needs four, a living room six to eight, a kitchen more over the benches. We lay them out with you before any holes are cut.
Do you supply the fittings?
Either way. We can supply reliable, warranted fittings at trade prices, or install ones you have bought. If you are choosing your own, send us a link before you buy and we will check they suit the job.
