Power points, USB outlets and wiring
Houses built before laptops, phones and induction cooktops rarely have power where you need it. We add and move power points, fit USB-C outlets so the chargers can go in a drawer, run dedicated circuits for ovens, cooktops, hot water and air conditioners, and rewire homes whose cabling has reached the end of its life.

Before you book
Double adaptors are a warning sign
A power board running a heater or a kettle is how a lot of house fires start. If you have more than one double adaptor in a room, another power point costs less than you would guess and is safer by a long way.
Induction needs its own circuit
An induction cooktop draws far more than the old electric one it replaces and usually needs a new, heavier circuit from the switchboard. We check the board has capacity before you buy the cooktop, not after.
Rewiring is rarely all-or-nothing
Most older homes need only the worst circuits replaced, often the lighting circuits with perished rubber cable in the roof. We test each circuit and quote what actually needs doing.

Questions
Power points and wiring: common questions
How much does it cost to add a power point?
It depends on how far the nearest circuit is and what the walls are made of, which is why we quote each one. Adding a point next to an existing one on a plaster wall is quick; a new point on the far side of a brick house takes longer. Either way the price is fixed before we start.
Can you install a ceiling fan where there is only a light?
Usually yes. The light circuit can normally run a fan and light combination, and we fit a proper fan-rated mounting in the ceiling. Older ceilings sometimes need a bracket added from the roof space, which we check first.
Does my house need rewiring?
Warning signs are cloth or rubber insulated cable in the roof, fuses that blow often, a burning smell, discoloured power points, or lights that dim when an appliance starts. We can test the wiring and tell you which circuits, if any, need replacing.
